As many of your know, I was invited to attend The Body Shop Blogger Event last week and I had such an awesome time! I’ve been keen to write a blog post since about all the goodies I received and also to talk a little bit about the Play for Peace project, which is an amazing NGO that The Body Shop are supporting over the Christmas period. For each seasonal gift collection purchase, 4.4p will be donated International Alert’s Peace Play Project, which aims to help refugee children. This is such an important cause, so if you’re stuck for Christmas present ideas, these are the perfect option!
Without further ado, let’s get into the products!
All of the guests at the event were given super cute goodie bags which had a few great samples inside! My favourites were the Himalayan Charcoal Mask which literally sucked all the dirt out of my face (and is a great dupe of the Glam Glow mask) and the Almond Milk & Honey Hand Cream which leaves your hands feeling SO BLOODY SOFT.
On top of this, we received a free personalised body butter, loads of snacks (including cinnamon Christmas biscuits) and of course, a glass of prosecco.
After an introduction to the history of The Body Shop (which was super interesting!) we were free to browse the store. I had it in my mind that I would not be spending any money, but of course, after we were offered a very generous discount I simply couldn’t resist. We also received another free gift on purchases over £30 so couldn’t ask for much more!
Here are a few of the items I purchased and a little bit about them, and yes, I love them all:
1) The Body Shop Matte Lip Liquid – (shade Vienna Tulip) £6.00
This is honestly the matte lip liquid of DREAMS. The colour is kind of like a coffee brownish so is the perfect shade for darker skinned girls! It also applies so smoothly and doesn’t crumble or go dry. It takes a little while to dry, but once it does it literally doesn’t come off forever. (until you remove it with a baby wipe)
Here is a swatch of the lip colour so you can see how it looks against my skin:
2) The Sparkler Gold £14
If you’ve ever dreamed of being a cool, sexy version of Edward Cullen, your dreams will now come true. Imagine if a fairy sneezed on you, or if an Angel dropped all of its blessings onto you. This is literally a vintage-inspired glass perfume bottle full of vanilla scented gold pigments sent from heaven. This is my absolute favourite product because it smells amazing and adds a gorgeous, subtle sparkle to your body which is perfect for Christmas. It also makes you feel like Aphrodite because your skin will quite literally GLOW to the Gods. I think this product will last a while too as it is a pretty decent size, and once it runs out I will 100000% be purchasing another one! You can also get this in pink which I think would look gorgeous on lighter skin tones, and if you can’t decide which colour to go for, you can get both for £20 at the moment (you can thank me later)
3) Star Stamp Liner £10
So when I first heard about this product, I thought it was gonna be a bit rubbish to be honest but BOY was I wrong. The stars literally come out perfectly and the eye liner on the other side is amazing. It’s a double sided product, with the star stamp on one end and a fine tip liquid liner on the other so it’s super handy, and you’re basically getting 2 for 1! I’ve gotten into the habit of covering my beauty mole with the star stamp and tbh it looks adorable. I think it would also be perfect for a Christmas makeup look and great for festivals in the summer! Unfortunately, it’s sold out online at the moment but you can use Store Finder to see if it is in a store near you! Along with the Sparkler Gold, this is my absolute fave!
So as I mentioned briefly at the beginning of this post, The Body Shop supports the Play for Peace project, which helps to support Syrian refugee children to heal from trauma through play. The Body Shop have some amazing packaging for their seasonal gifts this year which transform into different games, from quizzes to word searches. The whole family can enjoy playing together, and you are also supporting the planet by upcycling the materials used. Most importantly, 4.4p from every purchase will be donated to the project to support children like Gharam and Leena, who’s families both had to flee Syria, and who heavily rely on the project to play safely and make new friends.
This is such an important project and needs all the support it can get. You can find out more about it here, and please continue to raise awareness using the hashtag #PlayforPeace ♥
